SONG OF THE DAY: tyDi ft Kerli – “Something About You”

Well, not 10 minutes after I posted “Can’t Control the Kids” by Kerli as Song of the Day, I got a message from a friend asking if I had heard the new song she did with tyDI.? Since I loved “Glow in the Dark” so much, I clicked over immediately.? “Something About You” is a progressive house track with elements of stadium and a stronger-than-normal kick (with some cool reverse kick transitions). The track has a mysterious feeling to it, almost eerie, in the way that it is subtle yet sucks you in.? Maybe it’s an element of dark prettiness, sounding more like Kerli’s first album ‘Love is Dead’ rather than her more uplifting recent EP ‘Utopia.’? “Something About You” isn’t as instant as tyDi tracks like “Fire and Load” or “Nothing Really Matters,” but I have a feeling that it will grow with a few listens.

INTERVIEW: BT (2013)

Producer, artist, and tech guru Brian Transeau stands alone as one of the most unique visionaries in the electronic dance music world. Spanning nearly twenty years, his music has reached the worlds of clubs, radio, TV, movies, and video games.? His new album A Song Across Wires is probably his most accessible to date, inspired by the current sounds of electronic dance music as filtered through his creative mind and rendered by his futuristic production techniques.

Ron Slomowicz: I have listened to your new album a couple of different times and it feels like I am at a festival, hearing all the big records at once – but really well-produced.
Brian Transeau (BT): Awesome, I really love hearing that. Honestly, it is the first time in years that I have been really inspired by dance music and I feel like this record is one that my fans have wanted me to make for years and I just wasn?t ready to. In this moment, I am deeply inspired by what is actually happening in dance music. It feels so good to hear that, I feel the same way and I can?t wait to share this record with my fans and peers.

INTERVIEW: Jessica Sutta (2013)

When I interviewed Jessica Sutta back in 2008 around the release of the Pussycat Dolls’ Doll Domination album, I was blown away by her knowledge of dance music.? So it’s no surprise that she has worked with top flight producers like Dave Aude and Paul van Dyk and topped the club chart with “Show Me” last year.? Her new single “Again” is flying up the club chart and is just one of four songs that she is planning to release this year.? We caught up at the Winter Music Conference and chatted about everything going on in her beat-driven world.

DJ Ron Slomowicz: How are you enjoying the Winter Music Conference this year?
Jessica Sutta: Oh my god I am having the time of my life. Miami is my hometown and I love coming home, it is always fun here.
