INTERVIEW: Dave Aude (2013)

With over eighty chart-topping remixes, it’s hard to think of an artist who has not been reworked by Grammy-nominated producer Dave Aude.? Depeche Mode, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Madonna, Sting, LeAnn Rimes, and Donna Summer are just a few who’ve received the Aude treatment.? And while there isn’t a single trademark Dave Aude sound, each of his productions are solid and sound just as good in the clubs as they do on the radio.? Though he is known mainly for production/remixing, his skills as a DJ are just as evolved.? I had the honor of opening for him recently and was blown away as he worked three Pioneer CD decks, layering acapellas over different tracks, seemingly producing new remixes in real time.

Ron Slomowicz: There are singles coming out which say ?Dave Aude featuring X? and other singles that say ?X featuring Dave Aude,? what?s the difference?
Dave Aude: There is no difference; some people like to have their name first, sometimes. A lot of people are adding Dave Aude on their song because it helps them get their name out there. There is really no difference though, it just means that I am on the song somewhere.

RS: If it is a ?Dave Aude featuring X? track does that mean that you had more involvement on the production and writing side?
Dave Aude: I think that I have the same involvement in either situation. When I put somebody?s name first I am just trying to promote them as a new artist, as opposed to when my name is first it is my single and they are just singing.

INTERVIEW: Paul Oakenfold (2013)

With a career spanning thirty years in electronic dance music, Paul Oakenfold is clearly a legend.? Hard at work on his third artist album and producing new music for Cher, Paul has been busy both in the studio and touring. I caught up with him at the Winter Music Conference for a quick chat about what’s going on in his mad world.

Ron Slomowicz: ?As We Collide? continues to explode, did you have any idea that it would become such a big record?
Paul Oakenfold: Yes

RS: How did the record come about?
Paul Oakenfold: When you are in the studio making music you have to really like it, otherwise you wouldn?t release it. The collaboration is with two really great and talented people, I was very fortunate to work on it with them.

INTERVIEW: Moska (2013)

At barely 21 years old, Colombian-born DJ/Producer Moska is already a rising star on the international EDM scene.? His remix of Jordan Ferrer’s “I Need You” caught the the attention and support of Laidback Luke.? Later on, a bootleg of a Calvin Harris track led to Tiesto supporting him as well.? A steady stream of remixes and bootlegs has increased Moska’s reputation and led to releases on the ultra credible label Mad Decent records.? Keep your eye out for Moska, that’s lots of great music coming from South America.

DJ Ron Slomowicz: Where did the name Moska come from?
Moska: The name Moska came from my last name and high school friends. They called me Moska because I was a very active person and always ready for anything.

RS: I have been listening to the tracks and the bootlegs as they come up and the new song, “Trapeando,” threw me for a loop because it is trap, what inspired you to go completely different with your sound.
Moska: I always try to make new music and this time I tried to make a trap track. I am really happy with the result and I?m trying to finish it; I will release it very soon.

RS: When you play your sets do you play trap or is it more electro house?
Moska: I always play a lot of Dutch house and electro, but I love progressive house as well. I have two sides, a hard side and a soft side; I always try to play a little bit of everything. I am trying to play trap – but commercial tracks that are in trap versions.
