SONG OF THE DAY: Starkillers, Dmitry KO & Amba Shepherd – “Let the Love”
Here’s a truly international collaboration – American Nick Terranova (aka Starkillers teaming up with Dutch producer Dmitry KO and Australian vocalist Amba Shepherd.? The resulting track, “Let the Love,” is quite strong and catchy, starting softly with a repeating keyboard hook and Amba’s voice as the focus. Softly the beat comes in and begins to build and build until the dramatic fill that crescendoes to a big room stadium house sound similar to Swedish House Mafia begins.? It’s no surprise that this track already has major support from the big guys like Afrojack, Tiesto, Hardwell, and Sander Van Doorn.?? Since you probably already know about Starkillers (check out his recent track with Bl3nd “Xception”) and Amba Shepherd (on a roll with massive collaborations with Dyro, Hardwell, and Giuseppe Ottavianni), take a moment and listen to tracks on Dmitry KOs Soundcloud page ( – his mixes of Gabrielle Aplin and Rammstein are both quite hot.? As great as the song is, the video is quite funny for its unintentional camp value.?? The young couple is in love but their secret lives threaten to tear them apart – the girl moonlights as an erotic dancer styled to look like a crossdresser, while the boy is either a rent boy or a drug dealer and gets pushed around by Mr Terranova in a campy cameo role. When the boy and girl see each other in their alternate lifestyle costumes there is conflict, but they “let the love” bring them together.?? I guess that I am the only one who doesn’t appreciate the masterful work of cinema as the comments on Youtube channel are overwhelmingly positive.?

SONG OF THE DAY: Beverlei Brown – “Wishing On A Star”
When I first saw this, I kept thinking – please don’t be a cover version. To my great delight, “Wishing On A Star” is a glorious pop dance record which melds the slow-to-fast transition (think Soul Solution and Hex Hector’s classic mix of Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart”) with modern stadium house and electro. It’s in the same vibe as David Guetta/Kelly Rowland “When Love Takes Over” and, more recently, Frenchie Davis “Love’s Got a Hold on Me.” Thankfully the extended mix has a full intro and the dropout to the slower part is accented with a steady beat, so there is no loss of energy (or dancers frantically looking for a beat for an extended time). For a more Avicii-esque take, check out the Odd remix. It’s great to see that the Romanians are discovering the beautiful vocal of Beverlei Brown, a brilliant blend of soothing beauty, balanced power, and a hint of unique quirkiness – like an updated mashup of Gabrielle and Michelle Gayle. If you like “Wishing on a Star,” go back and listen to her track with Adrian Sina “I Can’t Live Without You” and her lost ’90s house classic “On and On.”
