SONG OF THE DAY: Giuseppe Ottaviani ft Amba Shepherd – “Lost For Words”

Talking to all the trance guys at the Amsterdam Dance Event, there was a lot of talk about “Trance 2.0.” It’s basically a move back to the origins of trance with influences of electro, progressive, and house peppered throughout. “Lost for Words,” by Italian trance producer/DJ Giuseppe Ottaviani, is a perfect example. Listen closely and you hear all of the classic trance elements in structure and production, with elements of the current electro/stadium sounds giving it a nudge to “2.0” status. Vocalist Amba Shepherd, who has had a great year collaborating with everyone from Dyro to Porter Robinson to Nick Galea, sounds amazing with effortlessly gorgeous vocals harkening back to the angelic sounds of trance classics. While “Lost For Words” is a little less pop-leaning than Giuseppe’s previous track “Toys,” it definitely could transcend the clubs and make it to radio.
