SONG OF THE DAY: Fedde Le Grand – Don’t Give Up

This track is going to sound familiar to a lot of you.? If you watched the movie about the Ultra Music Festival’s 15th edition, “Don’t Give Up” is THAT track that has been unavailable.? Set to be released at the start of the Winter Music Conference/Miami Music Week on March 24th, it will definitely be heard all week.? The big room festival anthem combines the aggressive electro beats with a pretty, anthemic?and uplifting interlude.? Since the track is being set up to be quite massive, it seems inimitable that there will be a vocal version as well.? It is quite funny that there are already mashups of the track floating around – like the solid one with Hardwell & W&W “Jumper.”? While there is rarely a single song that defines the WMC anymore, this could possibly be the one.? It also makes me wonder how this track fits into Fedde’s long-awaited follow-up album to ‘Output’ from back in 2009.

SONGS OF THE DAY: MAKJ and Lil Jon – Let’s Get Fucked Up and Contiez ft Treyy G – Trumpsta

Dance music and rap have always been paired together. Going back to the origins of rap, the first major hip-hop song, “Rapper’s Delight,” was rapped over the disco record “Good Times” by Chic. Fast forward to 2014 and Lil’ Jon, no stranger to EDM having already worked with Laidback Luke, LMFAO, and DJ Snake, and also being the rapper seeming most sampled for hype tracks, shouts his trademark “Let’s Get Fucked Up” over aggressive dirty electro beats by MAKJ. Is it Shakespeare? No. Will it be massive at every pool party during Miami Music Week and Winter Music Conference? Yes. Coming from down under, “Trumpsta” exploded on the Melbourne bounce scene and gave 19 year-old producer/DJ Contiez his breakout hit. Based on an insanely catchy trumpet hook, the banging Djuro remix plays the perfect backing for rapper Treyy G’s playful verses. Yes, trumpet plus gangsta equals “trumpets,” and the two fit perfectly together unlike anything you’ve heard before. The video is quite funny as well with the rapper dressed as Donald Trump and controlling people with his vigorous hand motions (as opposed to the cash of the original). Both tracks are not safe for work in their original versions, but there are clean versions available for the impending commercial crossover here in the US.

SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): Follow Your Instinct ft Alexandra Stan – “Baby, It’s Ok”

While most of the dance world is obsessed with the ’90s, Follow Your Instinct step further back to the ’80s.? The trio of rappers (2 male, 1 female) from around the world make their debut with “Baby, It’s Ok,”? sampling the dance classic? “Give It Up” by KC and the Sunshine Band.? Their verses flow effortlessly over the summery europop groove, with Romanian poptart Alexandra Stan singing the chorus hook.?

As you sample this new version, which has already hit the top 5 in Germany, you might also want to enjoy your Sunday Funday by remembering these other eurodance acts that have done versions of “Give It Up” – Captain Jack, Cut N Move, and Black Eyed Peas.?
