SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY):?? Brielle – “Catch a Star For You”

Dancey europop always works for Sunday Funday.? The best way to describe Brielle is probably as a Scandinavian cross between Inna and Alexandra Stan.? The slow to fast intro pulls you in (and would sound great on the radio) with Brielle’s polished pop voice singing like a 2013 take of Fragma.? The production sounds like a poppier version of a Calvin Harris with an insanely polished sugary feel.? The vocal chants and hooks are so catchy that you can’t help but sing-along by the time the second chorus comes in.? For a Sunday Funday singalong pop song, you can’t do much better than “Catch a Star For You.”

SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): Follow Your Instinct ft Alexandra Stan – “Baby, It’s Ok”

While most of the dance world is obsessed with the ’90s, Follow Your Instinct step further back to the ’80s.? The trio of rappers (2 male, 1 female) from around the world make their debut with “Baby, It’s Ok,”? sampling the dance classic? “Give It Up” by KC and the Sunshine Band.? Their verses flow effortlessly over the summery europop groove, with Romanian poptart Alexandra Stan singing the chorus hook.?

As you sample this new version, which has already hit the top 5 in Germany, you might also want to enjoy your Sunday Funday by remembering these other eurodance acts that have done versions of “Give It Up” – Captain Jack, Cut N Move, and Black Eyed Peas.?

SONG OF THE DAY: Inna – “More Than Friends”

For a while there, it seemed like there was a new Inna single popping up on seemingly a weekly basis. Since her music originates in Romania and then filters through continental Europe, then England, and eventually the US, different singles in different markets gave the Romanian Kylie a commanding omnipresence. Her new single “More Than Friends” highlights her musical progression from the trademark Romaninan sound (think Edward Maya/Alexandra Stan) to a more international sound, bringing in a Latin flavor. Previous singles “Caliente” and “Un Momento,” were steps to this new sound, and bringing in reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee for a forthcoming version definitely cements it. “More Than Friends” is an unashamedly sugary europop confection reminiscent of Paulina Rubio’s “Sexual Lover” and Girls@Play “Airhead,” with incessantly catchy hooks and a singalong chorus. Together with the internet buzz single “J’adore” (which featured the aerobics-ready lyric video), “More Than Friends” makes us quite anxious to hear the rest of Inna’s forthcoming third album Party Never Ends.
