INTERVIEW: Morgan Page (2013)

Morgan Page is one of the nicest producer/DJs on the scene.??A major part of his new tour ? Morgan Page Presents ? is focused on rising talent with Project 46, Walden,?Topher Jones, Beltek, Maor Levi, and Audien joining him on the bus tour.??Then there is the 3D element which aims to bring a more immersive experience to the crowd.??Talking to him is liking talking to an old friend, and when you think back to all of his massive records over the?past ten years (“Falling,” “Call My Name,” “In the Air,” “Longest Road,” “Body Work,” “Carry Me,” “Fight For You”), they all exude that same kind of warmth.??I met up and chatted with Morgan Page at the Promo Only Summer Sessions last month right before he was going to launch the MPP3D bus tour.??Its definitely a tour you do not want to miss.

RS:?Have you ever done a bus tour before?
Morgan Page: No, this is the first one.

RS: What was the inspiration for it?
Morgan Page: The biggest thing was just to go and tour with a team of people that I believe in and champion. To do the kind of production that we want to do we need a bus and a semi-truck to haul all of our gear. We can?t fly with all that stuff, so that was definitely one of our big motivators and we also wanted to go big and do 3D.

SONG OF THE DAY: Rivaz – “#1 (Colors)”?

When you get a track as epic and beautiful as Rivaz “Colors,” you just know there will be a vocal version coming.?? The track has been buzzing since Winter Music Conference, and when we first heard the uplifting and euphoric track, we had flashbacks to the first time we heard “Children” or “Sunchyme.”? A major record at Ibiza this summer, vocalist Corrine does the topline duty, singing about her personal empowerment being a desirable woman standing out from the crowd of women out there.? Yeah, that’s kind of elevating the lyrical theme, but let’s just go with that.? Corrine sounds like a cross between Rihanna and the singer from Karmin- with a touch of Bebe Rexha.? For a tougher tribal take with a bit more of a big room electro vibe, check out Robbie Rivera’s remix. While on the Rivaz tip, be sure to check out two other tracks he did this summer, “Tell Me Twice” with Benny Benassi and Heather Bright, as well as his remix of “Boom Boom” by Ray Foxx and Rachel K Collier.

INTERVIEW: Krewella (2013 – Get Wet)

After two massive EPs (Play Hard and Play Harder), the trio Krewella are set to unleash their debut album Get Wet.??Formed in 2007 with two sisters (Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf) and producer Rain Man, their EPs and tracks ?Killin It,? ?Come & Get It,? and ?Alive? have all become massive club records spanning the genres of electro, drum & bass, and dubstep.?The crossover appeal of ?Alive? brought them to the top 40 of the pop chart, somewhere that you don?t normally see authentic electronic dance music artists.??I chatted with Krewella at the Promo Only Summer Sessions where they were the unofficial headliners (and biggest buzz act) of the night.?Their closing performance blew everyone?s minds.??Be sure to catch the Krew on tour as their live experience is unlike any other EDM artist out there.

DJ Ron Slomowicz: What should we expect from?Get Wet?
Jahan: You are going to have a song for every emotion. There?s a sad song, happy song, club song, rage song, and songs that makes you feel like you?re united with everyone else on the dance floor. It is very a high energy and emotional album.
Kris: From a songwriting and production standpoint we have matured a lot since Play Hard. We have worked on our craft so much since then that the production and the writing is so much better lyrically, melodically, and thematically. I am really excited about it.
Yasmine: We definitely experimented with some new genres so we are excited to see how everyone takes it. Everyone is our guinea pig, so we?ll see.
