SONG OF THE DAY: Rokelle ft Ivan Gomez & Nacho Chapado – Break These Chains

With each release, singer Rokelle gets stronger and stronger. You can see the straight line trajectory from “Heaven to Hell” to “Bullet” to “Take Me Away” to her new single “Break These Chains.” Working with rising Barcelona-based producers Ivan Gomez and Nacho Chapado, she engages dual personae with the talk-sing verse and powerfully-sung vocals of the chorus. The track mimics the duality with a modern tribal house/disco fusion contrasted with a sparse, progressive dropout that builds back with a touch of stadium. Combining all of these elements, “Break These Chains” has a strong pop feel that might just take her from the top of the club charts onto dance radio with the debut release on her aptly-titled label Beatvoxx.

SONG OF THE DAY: Denzal Park ft Jon Hume – One Way Home (REMIX PREMIERE)

There’s a lot of great music coming out from down under right now – last week was the great new single from Helen Corry “Time,” and today we have an exclusive remix premiere from producer/DJ duo Denzal Park. “One Way Home” is an uplifting progressive pop single with a powerful chorus and a strong, uniting positive message. Actually, the lyrics are a bit open to interpretation and the message could be inspirational or religious depending on your perspective. The singer Jon Hume should sound familiar as the lead singer of Evermore, the Aussie rock band that had a major club hit thanks to a Dirty South remix. Speaking of remixes – the mixes by Arston and WasteLand both energize the track in a progressive/stadium direction, while Marek bangs out a harder electro and Fear of Dawn slows it down for a funkier synth-pop/nu-House take (reminiscent of Fear of Tigers, actually). While on the Denzal Park tip, be sure to check out their recent “Look Back” single with Eyelar, and their track with Zoe Badwi “Torches.”

SONG OF THE DAY: Vato Gonzalez – B52 Riddim

For Dirty House master Vato Gonzalez, it’s all about da riddim – be it Triplet, Sushi, Volfied, Ganja, Bio, or of course, Badman.? On his new riddim track, “B52 Riddim,” he mashes together a few of the previous ones into a new one, while adding a bit of a progressive vibe.? The vocal sample “Drop the Bomb” teases the explosive energy and makes it obvious that the title isn’t a reference to the beloved classic ’80s/’90s dance troup.? This Riddims series are strong tracks in their own right, but feel like they could be elevated further with a vocal or rap topline (a la Ganja/Badman). ?It will be interesting to see how his forthcoming “Desert Riddim” collaboration with Afrojack fits intro the progression.
