SONG OF THE DAY: Rebecca & Fiona – “If She Was Away”

Seems like this summer has been a deluge of Rebecca & Fiona singles? – “Dance,” “Hard,” “Bullets,” “Jane Doe,” and, of course, “Turn It Down” with Kaskade. The Swedish duo, assisted by “Teenage Crime”-producer Adrian Lux (who is dating Rebecca), continues their streak of intelligent dance pop singles with “If She Was Away.”?? Pumping up the tempo for a jump-up ’80s vibe (think “She Bop” or “Material Girl”), ?the modern electronic groove is the perfect bed for the duo’s breathy, almost dreamlike vocals.?? If you liked the eighties grooves of their past songs, you will love this.? If you haven’t heard their past singles, take this as an invitation to do so. Their debut album, ‘I Love You Man,’ is quite a wonderful collection of modern electropop, and for those us of jonesing for a new Robyn album, it makes for a nice way to satiate our appetite.
