SONG OF THE DAY: Nari & Milani vs Maurizio Gubellini ft Nicci – “Vago”

With the WMC ending, we will start to see a steady stream of the big tunes from the week. Leading the charge is Vago, a primal electro monster from Nari & Milani vs Gubellini ft. Nicci. Vago is an interesting word which can be translated as anything from vague, lazy, idle, bum, wanderer, or, charmingly, female sexual organs. As a mash of different styles with stadium house, pianos, Capella-inspired synth lines, big room builds, intense electro stutters, and aggressive energy, I would go with either wanderer (between styles) or vague (indescribable). Hearing this around Miami, the reaction each time was instant and big room DJs will definitely be jumping on it come its release date in early April. It’s another solid release from Italian duo Nari & Milani and super label Spinnin’.

SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): Nikki Williams – “Glowing (Remixes)”

Ask and ye shall receive.?? About two months ago, I wrote up “Glowing” as an enchanting europop song with electro beats and asked for remixes. Well, remixes by Cazzette, Danny Verde, and Fedde Le Grand surfaced and were heard all over Miami during the Winter Music Conference.? Avicii proteges Cazzette go the stadium house route, adding in some unique ’90s trance-influenced synths.? Danny Verde fuses modern tribal beats and progressive keyboards for a big room monster that will work on dance floors everywhere.? Fedde Le Grand mimics the duality of the original (pretty and hard) with euphoric, angelic energy, balance with grinding electro passages.? It’s a strong remix package that will help get Nikki Williams club play to boost the buzz from her internet buzz videoclip “Kill Fuck Marry.”? Speaking of which, remixes by Bob Sinclar and Adrian Lux of “KFM” have surfaced as well, and while they aren’t the most dancefloor-friendly, both are great interpretations of the quirky, fun love song.

SONG OF THE DAY: Davide Rivaz – “Colors”

With the plethora of tracks being released on a weekly basis, it’s often difficult to cut through the clutter. So when you hear a track that makes you stop, listen and feel something, you know there’s a magical moment – like the first time you heard “Bromance,” or for us long time punters “Children” or “Sunchyme.” Take a listen to “Colors” by Italian DJ/producer Davide Rivaz aka Rivaz. Truly uplifting and euphoric, the track lifts your spirits and takes you into that magical place that is light and full of happiness and energy. He even manages to bring in some rock guitar riffs without it sounding angry or aggressive, keeping it pretty and dreamy. Sure, there are the expected builds to electro and a few stadium house stabs, but the sound is so fresh and optimistic feeling that it stands out amongst the sea of clones. It really is no surprise that the big guys like David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Paul Oakenfold and Bob Sinclar are already supporting this massive track for the festival season. Special thanks to Lee Dagger for IDing the track when I approached him during his set at WMC.
