SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY?FUNDAY):? Cole Plante with Myon & Shane 54 ft Koko Laroo – “Lie to Me”

Like his contemporary Erik Arbores, much of the buzz surrounding Cole Plante seems to be about his age (16) rather than his music.? As someone who has seen Cole spin (at Promo Only Summer Sessions) and spoken to him about production (interview coming soon), I can attest that Cole is talented and knowledgeable rather than some packaged product for Disney.? “Lie To Me” is a good introduction to his music, a progressive-leaning stadium-pop track, not dissimilar to recent releases by Axwell and Markus Schulz.? The lyrics about lying might be a bit mature for his age, but these were most likely written by singer Koko Laroo (who we last heard with Felix Cartal on “Young Love”). ?A strong set of remixes by R3hab, Juventa and DJ Escape/Tony Coluccio set the track to be a banger for each subgenre (electro, progressive, and tribal). If this isn’t enough of an endorsement to check out his record, remember that Cole was handpicked by Kerli to remix her single “The Lucky Ones.”

SONG OF THE DAY:? Lange ft Ilsevioilin – “Violin’s Revenge”

Blending classical music and instrumentation with electronic dance music is always a fresh sound.? Remember Vanessa Mae, or William Orbit or Tiesto’s “Adagio for Strings?”? Trance producer Lange met the aptly-named violinist? “Ilseviolin” at a gig in Australia and this track is the result of their collaboration.? The dark yet pretty instrumental track is a lush balance of the violin melody with Lange’s signature melodic trance production.? It flows smoothly and adds a nice flavor to a night of progressive or trance without coming off as a gimmick.? “Violin’s Revenge” is featured on Lange’s upcoming album? ‘We Are Lucky People,’ along with “Risk Worth Taking” and “Our Brief Time in the Sun.”

SONG OF THE DAY:? Lazy Jay – “On the Rocks”

Jef Martens, aka Lazy Jay, gained much notoriety for his track “Float My Boat” that Azealia Banks used for “212.”? Did you know that he also produced “Scream & Shout” for?will.i.am?and Britney Spears, or that he is also Basto (“Dance With Me” /? “Rock With You” / “Stormchaser”)? His new single “On the Rocks” is a pure WTF track because it is utterly unpredictable.? The intro has elements of trap and dubstep, leading to a big beat section.? After the male vocal sample comes fun retro ’90s techno (a la AB Logic “The Hitman”) with a slightly modern twist. Later in the track comes a moombahton break which shouldn’t work, but does so perfectly.? There are just so many elements at work here, but it really does have a similar genre-bending feel, like with “Float My Boat.”? I wonder how many of her multiple personalities Azelia could bring to a topline on this track.? Until that happens, check this out and DJs should rock it as it will get a massive crowd response.
