SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): Scooter – “4 AM”

Surprisingly, there hasn’t been a vocal version of the club hit “Million Voices” by Otto Knows, so leave it to the German hardcore pop stars Scooter to create one. Those guys do have a great ear for mashups and covers. Who else would have dug up the obscure italodance track “The Night” by Valerie Dore for a happy hardcore rerub? Combine the hook of “Million Voices” with the chorus of Beverly Craven’s ’90s pop hit “Promise Me” (you know, the lyrics used by Lazard for “4am” in 2002) and a rap by iconic frontman H.P Baaxter and you’ve got the recipe for Scooter’s “4 AM.” A total guilty pleasure, it’s utterly addictive and makes a fun track for club kids, pop fans, and trainspotters alike.
