SONGS OF THE DAY: Tony Moran vs Deborah Cooper – “Heartbeat” and? Inaya Day & DJ Escape – “Make Some Noise”

Just like the other day, when I wrote about Duke Dumont and Disclosure bringing back ’90s underground house, here are two songs that are reviving the seemingly long-lost tribal diva house of the late ’90s. Instead of new faces remaking classic sounds, here we have legendary tribal producer/DJs teaming up with cherished divas to let us have it on the dance floor.? These songs are all about partying and having a good time with sing-a-long choruses over percussive (and explosive tribal beats) kind of like the old school circuit parties. When Deborah Cooper commands you to “get ’em up” while Inaya Day belts out “make some noise,” can you really refuse?????

INTERVIEW: Nari and Milani (2013)

When you talk to an Italian DJ/producer, you can feel their passion and love for the music.? Italian duo Antonio Romeo and Maurizio Zoffoli started working together in 1996 under different pseudonyms.? Back in 2003, they launched the Nari and Milani name and have achieved success with hit singles (“Let it Rain” and “I Got You”), remixes, and a solid DJ touring schedule.? Their weekly radio program “I’ll House You” is available on their Soundcloud page and is definitely worth subscribing to.

RS: How did the two of you meet up?
Nari: We met at a radio show, Ronni was a host and so was I. We both lived in the same city and had the same passion for music. Years later we found that we worked well together and decided to create and produce music.

RS: You worked with R3hab and MYNC on the new “Miami” track, how did that come about?
Nari: At the time that we decided to make the track we were in Europe, R3hab was on tour in Australia, and MYNC was on tour in America so we connected on Skype. We made the track, MYNC made the melody, and R3hab rebuilt the track and it was finished in 21 days.

SONG OF THE DAY:? Luckner ft Sophie Louise – “Time”

From EDM blog to record label, you have to show that crew some massive respect. Two of my inspirations in making the jump from?about.com?to Notable Dance were lessthan3 and dancing astronaut – incredible EDM blogs with impeccable taste and superior editorial content. So when Less Than 3 started releasing tracks, you knew they were going to be of the highest quality.? Swiss producer Luckner has managed to created a progressive stadium track that sounds different than what all is out there right now. It’s pulsing and pounding without resorting to the three chord cliche which overruns the market. The track is quite multilayered, with hooks all over the place. Singer Sophie Louise has a beautiful yet powerfully angelic voice that sounds great both raw and when chopped up with effects, a la Otto Knows. The video is quite sweet, showing a school class growing up and contrasting toys (Etch-a-Sketch, Monopoly money) with the adult equivalent (iPad, currency). ?Who knows, this song about growing up could be the new high school graduation theme for the EDM generation.
