SONG OF THE DAY: Nova Nova & Peter Hook – “Low Ends”

When La Roux first released “Bulletproof,” I read a review by James Masterton which framed it as a tribute to Vince Clarke in his many incarnations as part of Erasure, Yazoo, and Depeche Mode.? “Low Ends” is a similar tribute to Peter Hook’s work, containing several brief guitar and piano bits from several classic New Order tracks over a groovy house beat.? Seriously, this is a trainspotter’s dream or nightmare of a drinking game if you try to ID every bit.? This seeming megamix works on many different levels, proving that the melodies are so timeless (and brilliant) that they can be reconstructed and reconfigured in many different ways to create a compelling track.??
