Here’s an inspired mash of sounds – early ’90s Detroit techno with a bit of disco house. Dutch producer Tom Trago previews his forthcoming album ‘The Light Fantastic” with this modern throwback vocoder track, “True Friends.” Collaborating with Ben Westbeech, aka Breach, the guy behind the summer jam “Jack,” it’s a wonderful mix of various sounds with a subtly groovy and sexy vibe overlayed with cadenced vocals reminiscent of Outsiders/Amanda Wilson “Keep the Fire Burning.” The video is kind of dark, yet fun at the same way, and we’re always happy to see the effective deployment of mimes to express emotions.
