SONG OF THE DAY: Make the Girl Dance – “Tchiki Tchiki Tchiki”

A chance meeting at a live show brought together the French electro duo Make the Girl Dance and power guitarist Barrie Cadogan from the trio of Little Barrie. It resulted in ?Tchiki Tchiki Tchiki,? a powerful of fusion of surf rock/rockabilly and electro created the next day in the studio. This insanely energetic track works on many levels ? it harkens back to the Spaghetti Surfers take on ?Misirlou? from the ?90s as well as classics from the Violent Femmes. If it is ever performed live at a stadium show, the crowd would surely go nuts. As electronic dance music continues to branch out and merge with other genres, ?Tchiki? proves that these kind of inspired collaborations will lead to even more interesting music. The video continues the Make the Girl Dance tradition of ?out-there? videos: (?Baby Baby Baby,? and ?Kill Me? ). This time it features an insane car tow of a skateboarder through the streets of France which totally captures the vibe of the track. Listening to the song over and over, I wonder if they will take it a step forward and enlist someone like LMFAO to do a top line ? now that would really make a party rock, wouldn?t it?

SONG OF THE DAY: Alex Gaudino ft Taboo – “I Don’t Wanna Dance”

It looks like will.i.am isn’t the only Black Eye Pea who?s having fun in clubland. Rapper Taboo met Italian producer/DJ Alex Gaudino at a Spanish festival and they instantly bonded. Alex sent the track to Taboo to write his verses and they enlisted pop star Taio Cruz to write the chorus.? “I Don’t Wanna Dance” was the result, and it is nearly commercial club perfection. It combines elements of electro and house with energetic beats and a hook reminiscent of Jackson 5?s classic “Can You Feel It.” The song is also a great showcase of Taboo’s vocal talents with his singing and rapping. Here, he?s put in a spotlight that he doesn’t normally get when Fergie and will.i.am are in the picture.??? Given Alex’s track record for crossover club pop hits (“Destination Calabria,” “Watch Out,” “I’m in Love” and “What a Feeling”), it’s a safe bet that “I Don’t Wanna Dance” will be one to watch all summer.

SONG OF THE DAY: Sensate Focus – “Sensate Focus 5”

Mark Fell is generally recognized for his association with Mat Steel, with whom he comprises Sheffield’s SND. In the beginning of 2012 Mark launched his solo project, Sensate Focus, which offers its audience a unique blend of house and techno melodies.

While the titles of this two-tracker may be simple, “X” and””Y,” the impression they?ll leave is anything but. Enthusiasts seeking something that is both fresh yet eerily familiar, should do a hit of “X” ? with the massive use of drum machines, synthesizers, and a few well-placed aged vocals, you should be floating high.

“Y” takes you on a relatable trip with its mixture of tribal and transfigurative techno and features one more signature Mark Fell trademark ? or rather, doesn?t. To date, the bassline is absent from all Sensate Focus productions. While most club music is pulsating and throbbing in intensity, Sensate Focus is factually described as “a series of touching exercises designed to increase intimacy in a sexual relationship.”
