SONG OF THE DAY: Meital Dohan – “Give Us Back Love”

Israeli firecracker Meital Dohan made a big dent on the club chart with her playful “Yummy” and “On Ya” tracks.? Seemingly aiming for the big commercial crossover, she follows them up with “Give Us Back Love.” Yes, you can still hear and feel her fiesty nature but the more mature lyrics and expressive vocals makes “Give” stand out as the pop hit waiting to happen.? To insure a massive clubland presence, an incredible strong roster of international remixers – Sidney Samson, Hoxton Whores, Dave Aude, Juan Kidd, Disco Fries, and DJ Skee turn in a variety of house, electro and stadium takes that will fit any DJ’s set.? If you missed her first two single, go back and watch the videos – both are quite special.? Be sure to listen for “Give US Back Love,” it’s sure to make a lot of noise when it’s released.

SONG OF THE DAY: RAC ft Kele Okereke and MNDR – “Let Go”

The Remix Artist Collective is a trio of producers who’ve made a name for them by remixing everyone from Lane Del Rey and Penguin Prison to the Gossip and Temper Trap. Their remixes aren’t always aimed at the clubs but rather reinterpret the original songs by adding new elements and giving them a new vibe.? They’ve also made the move to releasing original songs, first “Hollywood” featuring Penguin Prison and now “Let Go” with? Kele Okereke from Block party and MNDR.? The song title is kind of funny since Kele did a vastly under appreciated single with Martin Solveig called “Ready 2 Go.”? “Let’s Go” is smooth, shuffling and summery pop with a similar vibe to the recent “Young Love” by Felix Cartal and Koko Laroo.? Actually, the more I listen to the song, I keep flashing back to “Steal My Sunshine” by Len (but without the Andrea True Connection sample.)? It will be interesting to see if club remixes are forthcoming.

SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): EverYoung – “You Got Me”

A lot of the best pop music comes from the UK – Wanted, One Direction, Spice Girls, SClub – and the next pop group to watch for is EverYoung. Following in the mixed gender steps of Steps, the two boys and two girls met in school and have been performing the past two years. Their focus is on live vocal performances and writing/cowriting all of their own songs. Their debut single “You Got Me” is a shuffling piece of sugary pop with solid harmonies and enough hooks to catch anyone. For club consumption, the nu-garage (that’s the official name for the subgenre for the ’90s house flashback trend led by Disclosure and Prince Club) Boutique mix speeds up the vocals and has some fun mixing synth pop, classic NRG, and yes, old school house. Unfortunately, the remix and the song are nowhere to be found online as of yet, so please let this acapella performance of the chorus whet your appetite until the commercial release on October 2nd.
