SONG OF THE DAY: Shermanology and R3hab – “Living for the City”

The team of Shermanology provides a needed addition of jazzy soul to the world of dance music. The family of brother, sister and uncle have worked with Fedde le Grand, Funkerman, Afrojack, and Chocolate Puma resulting in amazing club tracks that focus on vocals as much as slamming beats. They team here with JACKED touring mate R3hab, and construct “Living for the City.” It adds their soulful vibe to downbeat parts of a pumping electro track done in signature R3hab style. While only a 1:23 snippet posting is available now, here’s hoping that there will be a full verse/chorus/verse vocal version to come soon. Yeah, I know I am dreaming.

INTERVIEW: R3hab (2012)

When reviewing music, I often use the term “WTF track” – a track that is so different or aggressive that one must say “What the F*k” is that?? That was my reaction when I first heard “Pump the Party” a few years ago – the sheer aggression and powerful noise made me think of the first tracks from Benny Benassi or Mr Oizo.? With guidance and mentorship from Afrojack, R3hab has quickly risen in the ranks to become one of the most in-demand remixers by adding “chainsaw madness” – his special take on the Dirty Dutch sound.? In 2011, he pumped out over thirty remixes, perfecting his sound and giving a new spin on everyone from the biggest pop stars (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Pitbull) to rising stars in the EDM world (Dada Life, Ralvero, Sander van Doorn). ? With so much time in the studio and doing so much, its no shock that he hasn’t even had time to produce his own artist album yet!

DJ Ron: How did the Jacked tour work out for you?
R3hab: Awesome, it was amazing. Afrojack is one of my favorite artists and he put me on as his main support act. People were ready to party and have a good time, which is the most important thing for me. The parties had an energetic crowd wherever we went. I like a crowd that wants to party and they were the type of people that we attracted, I was very happy with that.

INTERVIEW: Afrojack (2012)

Afrojack is invading the US with the massive JACKED tour.? For his first big tour of the North America, he is bringing the party with friends (and label-mates) R3hab, Shermanology, Bobby Burns, and Quintino. The party vibe from his chart-topping single with Pitbull and Ne-Yo, “Give Me Everything,” and platinum crossover hit “Take Over Control” are just a taste of what you can expect from the tour and his forthcoming debut artist album.? Born Nick van de Wall, he is one of those rare artists who cranks out commercial hits while maintaining club credibility with the underground through success on Beatport via his label Wall Recordings.? With a keen eye for rising talent, he’s the one who helped R3hab break on the international scene.? Already a Grammy winner (with David Guetta for their remix of Madonna’s “Revolver”) and top 10 on the DJ List,? the intense amount of success and buzz has not gone to Nick’s head – he’s still a down to earth DJ who looks most forward to partying with his friends and fans while on tour.
