SONG OF THE DAY (SUNDAY FUNDAY): Chromeo – Jealous (I Ain’t With It)

How can you not be a fan of Chromeo?  The Canadians meld electro, ’80s, and disco with a fresh sound that is uniquely them.  You can’t help but dance when songs like “Fancy Footwork” and “Bonafide Loving” come on.  A highlight of the summer was their remix, with Oliver, of Donna Summer’s “Love is in Control,” was just a taste of what’s to come.  Both preview singles from their forthcoming album ‘White Women’ – “Come Alive” and “Jealous” – mash ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s sounds together like a musical blender.  On the intro of “Jealous,” you can hear a bit of collaborator Oliver’s influence since it is reminiscent of Bonnie McKee’s “American Girl,” but over all the sound is clearly Chromeo. If you are a fan of the recent Big Gigantic “The Night is Young” single or are looking for a fun followup to Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ (but don’t want to wait four to eight years), here is your soundtrack for a funky spring.
