SONG OF THE DAY: Klaypex – “Ready to Go”

Dubstep, as a genre, has gone from innovating to kind of annoying in a rather short period of time.  This could be due to a number of factors but the main thing in my mind is how each track typically sounds the same.  Of course, the same could be said for house or trance but really there’s only so many wub wubs a guy can take.  That’s what makes “Ready To Go” so engrossing.  As a dubstep track, Klaypex forms the track around a melodic riff and vocal snippet, allowing the track to take big necessary breaths.  It also sets the stage for an awesome video.  And really it plays very similarly to the Weetabix commercial that used Mord Fustang’s “A New World”, in that the music drove the action in the video.  For Klaypex though, the advent of dubstep into the world of the characters is a creepy occasion, as the children force their grandparents to listen to the music, which in turns sends them looney and eventually appears to kill them.  While grandma is far more believable than grandpa, it’s an entertaining romp and should serve as a great introduction to Klaypex, if you haven’t heard of them before.
